When computers know better

I was supposed to meet someone for coffee today, and I could not be bothered. In fact, I was busy documenting how to set up pyblosxom in a multi-user environment and decided to just stand up the other guy, when my machine just turned off. No power blackout, it just turned off. I was surprised, and all the more when I turned it back on to hear a Taiwanese voice from my speakers (I have a PCI soundcard) babbling something in Chinese. A quick temperature check didn't suggest any serious problem, so baffled as I was, I went for coffee.

When I came back an hour later, everything was back to normal. And the moral: listen to your computer! It knows better what you should or should not be doing.

Hal, open the door!
