Mako, I see and agree with your point. I guess I failed to make mine: Planet is not what I would call "public discourse", or is it? Instead, I think it is often used as a platform to be heard without the risk of someone arguing against one's point (on purpose or not, and I am not trying to plead not guilty here).

I find abbreviated summaries with clearly biased views -- humorous, sarcastic, or otherwise subjective -- disturbing because I believe that they will have some subtle influence on the decisions cast by those who don't have the time to completely make up their own mind for lack of time to follow all the discussion leading up to the debate.

That was all. By all means, I like Debian in (large) part because of the public discourse.
