• At Advanced Clustering, we’ve had bad experiences with almost all out-of-band IPMI implementations and have taken to selling an extra, cheap switch just for IPMI management, standard on our clusters. However, the exception to this rule has been official or semi-official Intel motherboards which appear to get a whole lot more QA testing before they go in to production. -JasonClinton
